Cafe Grand Opening

We are gearing up to celebrate the Grand Opening of new Cafe this next week April 20th-25th.  Stop by and see the Mural that Cam Stuart has painted, and enjoy some donuts, cookies, scones or brownies or just a coffee.

Mural Update 3/17

Cam has been working hard to finish the mural by April 1st.  When we will be opening the New Hope Cafe.  His family has been making many visits - bringing in his meals while he focuses on the job at hand.  As you can see there has been a lot of progress!

The Mural-

Cam Stuart a local semi-retired art teacher who lives just down the road from our Auburn store is painting a beautiful mural of the old Mill in our store.  The mural situated on what is to be the Café side of the store and is the first thing you see when you walk in the door.  He has been faithfully painting for about a week now and the changes are exciting.

Cam and his family have been friends with the Weeds for many years.  Their children have grown up together, they attend church together and now they are working together.  The Weed children even enjoyed a homeschool art class held in the Stuart’s home for many years during their schooling.  Cam is known mostly for his work in pottery.  For several years he attended our mill festival and brought his pottery wheel so he could shape different pieces while festival goers watched.

Watch for updates on the mural in the News section!

Recent Events Update

New Hope Mills Festival!

Our festival on August 11th was great fun!  We had a few new additions this year with Crossroads the clown, a couple of thievin’ bandits harassing the wagon riders, and new vendors as well.

The weather was beautiful!  But the water was a little cold for our dunking booth which once again, was a favorite among the attendees.

Our store saw many smiling faces that day as well!  We happily served up cheese samples of our Out-of-This-World Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese!, while outside at Schoolyard Sugarbush’s table, you could purchase some maple cotton candy…mmm, and more goodies!

Marlene Kimball, the artesian that makes Morning Glory Soaps, offered baked goods as well as several new scents of soap, even dog shampoo soap!

The kids enjoyed the petting zoo with a small calf, goat and a few chickens.  While there were other children’s games as well, Crossroads the Clown delighted people of all ages, with his face painting and balloon creations.

Tours of the mill were the main attraction.  While at the festival, you could purchase a ticket (at minimal cost) to hear area history, and walk through the main floor of our 185 year old mill.  Tours were led by Dale Weed (the mill’s owner for over the past two decades) and his son Douglas Weed the Mill’s general manager.

Plan on coming next year for our festival!  We are looking to possibly changing the date to another weekend on August.

Ontario Orchards Fall Jamboree

New Hope Mills attended Ontario Orchards Fall Jamboree this past weekend Sept. 20th & 21st.  We were serving up Cider Donuts made with the orchard’s own apple cider.  They were a huge hit!  Attendees could watch the donut machine in action as it dropped the dough into the hot oil, flipped the donut, and then took a ride up the conveyer belt,  finally dropping it off onto the cooling tray.

The Jamboree was a great success!  With many things to do and see for the whole family.  New Hope Mills was a proud to attend. For pictures and information please visit www.ontarioorchards.com

We hope to be serving donuts in our store in the near future, made with our donut machine.  Keep posted for new developments!

New Hope Mills Family Festival

We would love for you and your famiy to join us this year for our Festival.  Saturday, August 9th from 10am - 3 or 4pm.
