Ingredients for the meat bake:
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup chopped sweet onion
- 1 can whole kernel corn, undrained
- ¾ cup ketchup
- ½ tsp paprika, add more/less to taste
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
Optional add-ins for a “Cheeseburger Bake”
- ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- ½ cup diced pickles
- 6 pieces cooked bacon, crumbled
Ingredients for the topping:
- 1 ½ cup New Hope Mills Buttermilk Pancake Mix
- ¾ cup cold water
- 1 ½ Tbsp melted butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and onions. Once the beef is brown, remove from heat and carefully drain off the grease. Returning to the heat, stir in the remaining filling ingredients, adding paprika, salt, and pepper to taste. Once the mixture has reached a simmer for 5 minutes, pour into a greased 8×8 baking pan.
In a medium bowl, combine the ingredients for the topping and spread over the meat mixture. Bake 30-35 minutes or until topping has browned.
Serve with pickles on the side to complete the burger experience.
