Frosted Cookies

Frosted sugar cookies

Cookie Ingredients:

Prepare cookie dough as directed on the bag.

Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface about 1/8th of an inch thick. Cut out cookies using your favorite cookie cutters. Place cut-out dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  (If not frosting cookies you may top them with sprinkles before baking)

Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until edges appear to be golden brown.  Cool on baking sheet for 1-2 minutes. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely. 

Classic Buttercream Frosting:

  • 1 ½ sticks butter (room temperature)
  • 2 ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • optional – 1/4 tsp flavoring extract of choice 

Using an electric mixer whip butter until soft. Carefully cream in the powdered sugar. Once the powdered sugar and butter are completely blended, add the milk and vanilla, mix until light and fluffy. If desired, separate frosting into different bowls and color with desired food coloring. Spread frosting on cooled cookies with a butter knife or spatula.  Top frosted cookies with sprinkles immediately after frosting, if desired.
